The Atlanta Kookaburras are a Australian Rules club that first gathered in Marietta, Georgia, just outside Atlanta in 1998. They have been going strong since. Atlanta hosted the USAFL National Championships in 2004 with roughly 675 players attending and was the first club to provide quality fields and experiences to allow the event to really take off in the following years.
400 players and supporters that weekend attended the Saturday night banquet in Dunwoody GA at the National Championships, to listen to AFL legend and guest Kevin Sheedy, talk about his playing and coaching life in the AFL with Richmond and Essendon Football clubs.
Always the innovator the Kookaburras have hosted several USAFL Revolution and Freedom team camps and shown resilience in adversity. Organizing and developing local games to support the growth of Australian Rules Football across the SE of the USA the Kookaburras have been a staple that has often lead & held the sport together in the South.
