The Des Moines Roosters were founded in 2009 and have been steadily growing since. In recent years their annual 80/35 tournament in late May has been one of the best attended and most enjoyable events in the spring for all players.

In 2023 the Roosters took a great bunch of 24+ players to the USAFL National Championships in Sarasota FL and played in the Division 3 of the event. The Roosters also won Div 4 in 2012, were runners up in 2019 & 2022 and note importantly in 2023 they were a complete American team, perhaps one of the first ever.
